Melanie E. Lewis has published her captivating memoir, Slipping Into Darkness Blinded by the Light-Seeing Beyond Me.
A spiritual sojourn, exploring issues from drug addiction and domestic violence to boating and building beach houses in the Bahamas.
A proud lesbian woman of faith, LGBT activist and native New Yorker, Melanie has made it a practice to live a benevolent life. Graduating Tuskegee Institute-Magna Cum Laude, she experienced a fulfilling and rewarding career as a self-employed Physical Therapist. She also explored other lucrative ventures including real estate investments. However, throughout her life she has always committed time and money to helping others.
Melanie has served on the board of Family Services of Poughkeepsie, participated in the Big Sisters program for many years, volunteered at the Poughkeepsie Children’s Home, was a CASA volunteer, and is a Rotarian. Her primary concern has always been the safety and tutelage of children.
In keeping with her magnanimous nature she plans to donate fifty percent of all net proceeds of her book sales to charitable organizations promoting the welfare of children. We are our brothers’ keeper!
Citizen of the world, she lives alternately between her homes in Upstate New York, The Bahamas and Harlem, New York.
Glory to God!
